"Operation Goodwood in Normandy, France was a British offensive against the German forces at the end of July 1944. Originally posted by FilipeREP:Dear members and commanders, It is called by some historians as ‘the largest tank battle in British Army’s history.’ British forces deployed two infantry divisions and three armored divisions with 1,100 tanks." To stir people's curiosity, some pictures of the Normandy breakthrough:

A campaign in France (1944 onwards) would have the breakout of Normandy, around the battle of Caen, Walcheren island to open Antwerp (important logistics base for the Allied advance), Market Garden, Varsity (little known crossing into Germany with an unsung successful airborne operation) and the operations in Germany itself. Is there any project for a British campaign? If not, could we hope for it through "popular demand"?įrom Normandy to Germany, the British did manage to keep a large army in land warfare despite Britain's staggering losses in men and material in France (1940, most material lost), Greece, Africa and Burma.
